When you think of a guard, your first thoughts are probably a person waving a flag and blowing a whistle, whilst true in a sense the reality is it's one of the most important roles on the railway! Whilst the drivers are responsible for the engines themselves, the guard is in charge of the entire train as well as those onboard. As a guard, you'll be responsible for the safety of the train, as well as going through and checking tickets and interacting with passengers during the days running. Guarding is one of the most popular roles at SRC as it acts as the gateway to more safety-critical roles (like driver & fireman), as well as the friendly chats you'll often have with passengers.
We're always looking for more guards to fill our ranks, so apply today to be ready for the 2023 season
