Stainmore Railway Company is a not for profit volunteer run group.
We welcome volunteers of all ages and abilities.
If you would like to join our friendly team please read on.
This page is currently under development and will be upgraded over the next few weeks by our volunteer team.
We have volunteer working parties on Tuesday, Wednesdays and weekends from 10 am - 4pm (or later in the summer) doing work on the site.
We are open to the public from Easter - December on Saturdays & Sundays and need volunteers to 'meet and greet', run our shop and buffet car.
Our station cat 'Barras' is very friendly and likes to meet new human volunteers and tolerates well behaved canine volunteers on leads.
We have opportunities for people to train as 'safety critical' staff (diesel & steam train crews, guards) but there are many other roles.
Volunteers are supported to develop new skills and we also provide supervision for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds and are currently aged from 16 - 90 years of age.
We have a number of volunteers with 'disabilities' but we support them to develop new skills and value their contribution to the work at KSE.
If you would like to find out more about volunteering please email us and one of our team will get back to you
