Saving the past for future generations

April 2008

The Easter Rally was a big success despite the snow which meant that some of our volunteers and exhibitors couldn't make it to Kirkby Stephen on the Sunday. Thanks to all the volunteers and visitors who helped make this Easter special.

Easter is one of our biggest community event at KSE and we work closely with the Eden Classic Vehicle Group (ECVG) to provide a site for exhibits. The event is free and runs on both Easter Saturday and Sunday.

Visitors are advised to park in Brough rather than Kirkby Stephen to benefit fully from the free trips on Cumbria Classic Coaches between the exhibition sites (Brough, Kirkby Stephen Town Centre and KSE). The event starts at approximately 10am each day and the last buses run between 4 - 5pm depending on demand.

The coaches also call at Kirkby Stephen West Station on the Settle and Carlisle line to both meet the incoming trains and return visitors to the station for their return journeys home.

The number of exhibits increase year on year and the East Station site has a number of stalls and static engines in addition to the lorrys, buses and other exhibits.

On the Saturday evening, you can witness the tractor and classic vehicle parade through the lovely Eden Valley countryside and the local pubs stock a wide range of beers and serve very nice food. Look out for the famous Kirkby Stephen parrots that are sure to be flying about over the weekend and for further details about Kirkby Stephen, please check out the Town Forum website. The Eden Valley area is very beautiful and there is wide range of accomodation in the area which is reasonably priced, so why not also use the weekend to check out the local area which is showcased on the Visit Cumbria website.

Volunteers are most welcome to help out at the event and we will have our buffet car and shop open all weekend.

A selection of pictures from the Easter 2007 Rally are shown here. For more pictures, please check out Alan Usher's website.
